FOUR BRASS AND WHITE METAL PANDAN BOXES
Indonesian Archipelago, South East Asia, 19th - 20th century
Comprising three boxes of rectangular shape with lobed ends, flat bases and stepped lids, one plain, two engraved with typical floral designs set against square-punched patterns, and ring-punched borders, the largest 13.7cm; the fourth box of octagonal shape, with a flat base and stepped lid, the decoration executed in a finer style, stamped with a Chinese symbol to the centre of the lid flanked by two floral sprays, to the front and back of the body interlocking vegetal trellis, on opposite ends a lotus pond scene with fishes and a bird holding a rosette stem, 14cm x 4.8cm.
