A George I / George II English unmarked silver mounted tortoiseshell snuff box, circa 1720-30

Of oval form with straight sides in silver, the silver mounts with a moulded edge and stand-away hinge. The lid inset with inlaid and engraved silver decoration of foliate scrolls, intertwined strapwork and foliage, the central section with a Green Man mask to the base and grotesque mask to the top with two fish respectant above, all populated with inset panels of mother of pearl, the base panel of plain tortoiseshell.

Weight – 61 grams / 1.96 ozt
