A SRI LANKAN GEM-SET PARCEL-GILT SILVER HAIRPIN (KONDAKOORA)

The hairpin made of two sections joint together, the lower part with a tapering arrow-like terminal with a medial ridge to the bottom, the head shaped as a stylised curved boteh finial in-filled with floral bloom and curled petals, the upper two-thirds of the hairpin elegantly encrusted with untested, faceted rubies set in claw mounts, the shape and design usually attributed to the ‘Low Country’ regions of Sri Lanka from the 18th through to the early 20th century, 10.2cm long, 13grams.
