AN ALBUM OF PHOTOGRAPHS DOCUMENTING CHINA, c.1900-1910, Mainly scenes in Shanghai; daily life, Local Tradesmen, The Police Force, Prisoners and Executions including a scene of the Namoa Pirates Execution in Kowloon (1891), the Boxer Rebellion, Western Naval troops, Artillery groups and infantry lined up in trenches, Hunting & leisure scenes including football teams, horse racing and many scenes on the river, some images numbered or titled in negative, others unique snapshots taken by the original owner, all gelatin prints (166), smaller 100mm x 75mm and larger prints 280mm x 215mm, image mounted onto thick card support with gilt edges, and tissue guards, back to back, in an oblong folio, lacquered album with inlaid detail
