A VERY FINE PART SILK TABRIZ CARPET, NORTH-WEST PERSIA

The deep indigo field with delicate scrolling floral and leafy vine together with polychrome palmettes and birds around cusped shaped floral medallion with pendants contining double floral centerpiece. Wide light beige floral spandrels. In soft dusty-pink border of serrated palmettes, floral sprays and birds between similar palmette and floral stripes, approx: 8ft. x 5ft.6in.(244cm. x 168cm.) Classic for this type with well drawn design and good colour combination. Apart of tiny dot like wear at one side, barely visible this carpet has good pile of soft wool quality. selvages original. Ends with short fringes, minute touches of fraying at one on them. Very fine weave, approx:9 x 8 knots per sq. cm; woven on silk warps. In general this carpet is in very good usable conditon. Attractive and very good furnishing piece.
