A CHINESE FAMILLE ROSE CIRCULAR 'EIGHT IMMORTALS' PANEL.

Qing Dynasty, Qianlong period.

Painted with the Eight legendary figures in a mountainous landscape, each recognisable by their attributes, aided in their activities by assistants, to the left of the scene a bridge over a river leads to the vast green sea, a crane in flight above, the vista with scattered pine trees dominated by tall mountain peaks shrouded by mist, the panel set within a wood frame carved with lotus blossoms and mounted on a stand decorated with the Bajixiang and carved with Shoulao travelling on a deer, accompanied by a young assistant, a crane and a bat, the base with a band of petals, 62cm diameter, total 103cm H. (2)
