A PAIR OF FAMILLE ROSE MILLEFLEUR VASES AND COVERS.

Qing Dynasty, 18th / 19th Century.

Each sturdily potted, rising from a splayed foot to a rounded shoulder and straight neck, the body lavishly decorated with two large quatrefoil panels, divided by a fan-shaped and peach-shaped panel, the first depicting the eight Immortals above waves and below a rocky outcrop, the second depicting Magu with Shoulao on a raft beside the Hehe twins, overlooked by other Immortals from a garden veranda, two further quatrefoil panels on the covers below the bud-form finial depicting further figurative scenes, all against a gilt ground densely packed with millefleur decoration, the two vases painted in mirror image of each other, 65.5cm H, 88cm H (with stand).
