A collection of autographs and letters to and from a number of prominent figures from the 19th and early 20th Century, including: letters addressed to Lord and Lady Shuttleworth from a number of notable individuals like the Hungarian musician Francis Alexander Korbay (advising Lady Shuttleworth about a trip to Spain, “If you go to Spain as you seem to intend to do, I really envy you for the treat that is in store for you”, April 1902) and Scottish landscape artist Joseph Farquharson; signature of Sir Robert Peel on a card from the Brighton New Club, Kings Road, dating to 1888; clipped signature of William Lamb, 2nd Viscount Melbourne; a group of letters to Robert Baden-Powell; letters from Sarah Broom Macnaughtan, n.d. and Naurice Henry Hewlett, dating 4th Oct 1912; envelope panel addressed in the hand of the Duke of Wellington, dating to 1838; letter from Sir Thomas Noon Talfourd, English judge, radical politician, and author, dating 21st October 1835; a collection of Shares certificate for Matabele Ancient Gold Reefs Limited, Associated Rhodesian Gold Estates Limited, Akoko Main Reef Limited, and the Continental and Colonial Explosives Limited; thank you note to Charles Dickenson from British General George de Lacy Evans, dating to 23rd July 1855; thank you letter from novelist and playwright William Babington Maxwell, 11 January 1909 and others; v.s., late 19th-early 20th century (quantity)
