By descent from the artist

'The Wedding of El Zein' is inspired by a novel by the late Sudanese author Tayeb Salih. It was partially published in Arabic in 1964, fully published in 1966 and translated into English in 1968. The story is set in the fictional village of Wad Hamid, the same setting as Salih's bestseller 'Season of Migration to the North', published in 1966.
