Austrian circa 1930
An early 20th century sterling silver and enamel compact

Of circular form, with a hinged lid. The top with painted enamel classical pastoral scene of the ' Music Lesson' by Nicolas Lancret, with two ladies enjoying a troudadour playing music, around engraved scrolling foliage. the underside with guilloche enamelling in green colour. The gilt interior with fitted mirror and loose powder dispenser, stamped Registered and Metal. Stamped sterling silver, Made in Austria, maker's mark and 930.
