A mid to late 19th century unmarked gold and gem set chatelaine belt hook, circa 1850-80

Formed as a coiled snake, the loop of amorphous form with chased decoration all over foliate scrolls, the snakes head langued, set with a pear cut garnet to the head, the eyes diamond set. A plain belt slip to the reverse with a loop.
