Calcutta circa 1840 by Twentyman and Co (active 1824-53)
A mid-19th century Indian colonial silver large christening mug

of campana form upon a pedestal foot, a C scroll handle with chased foliate decoration, the body with chased decoration of foliate scrolls and foliage all above lobed sections chased with alternating roses and acanthus leaves, all against a textured ground, the front with a cartouche of acanthus scrolls, engraved with later initials GMJ above 1877. Gilt interior. The footrim marked T&Co in gothic script, and a tally mark.

Weight – 255 grams / 8.2 ozt
