A collection of 9 maps of Syria and the eastern Mediterranean, various sizes, most engraved, all hand-coloured, including editions of Ptolemy such as Porro (Girolamo) Tabula Asiae IIII, from Magini's edition of Ptolemy's ‘Geographia’, hand-coloured in outline, Italian text on verso, Venice, 1596; and another, depicting Cyprus, Syria, Mesopotamia, Babylonia, Arabia Petraea, Armenia Minor and the Holy Land, circa 1598; Mallet (Alain Manesson) Syrie Moderne, in ‘Description de l’Univers’, map depicting the region including Syria, Lebanon and Israel, drape-style cartouche, held aloft by putti with religious symbols, 1638; Visscher (Nicolaes) De Gelegentheyt van t'Paradys ende t'Landt Canaan, decorative map of the region between the Mediterranean and the Persian Gulf with Paradise, depicted to the east of Babylon, incorporating engravings of Adam and Eve with the serpent, the Expulsion from the Garden of Eden, compass rose, scale of miles cartouche and a depiction of Jonas and the whale, German text, Amsterdam, circa 1660; Roux (Joseph) Maps of the coast near St. Jean d’Acre, and of the port of Alexandrette, from ‘Ports et rodes de la Mediterranée’, handcoloured in outline, 1764; Toms (William) Syria, [printed for F. & C.
