A GROUP OF THREE INDIAN DAGGERS AND A GOLD-DAMASCENED (KOFTGARI) HILT
Northern India, 19th and 20th century

Comprising a green quartz-hilted pesh kabz (dagger), with a single-edged curved steel blade with medial ridge and thick tip, the hilt made of four slabs of green quartz pinned to the brass tang, with a brown leather sheath featuring a brass mounting at the end, 38cm long including the sheath; two kukri daggers (machetes), with a typical single-edged bent steel blade, one with water buffalo horn hilt and the latter with wood, both with their original scabbards, one presenting solar symbolism, the latter made of plain light brown leather dated ca. 1915 and stamped with a European monogram, respectively 38cm and 48cm long including the scabbards; and a tulwar sword steel hilt, with typical T-shaped forte and bulbous terminals, the koftgari decoration consisting of rosettes and flower collars, 16.5cm high.
