1953 Domaine de la Romanee Conti Romanee Conti - magnum
Bottle number 4027
Ullage: Very bottom shoulder, 9cm
The 1953 wines from the Domaine and the Cotes de Nuits are exceptional, and structured and long lived. This is a very ullaged magnum, and to be honest I was nervous about putting it in the sale. However, Burgundy copes with ullage well, and it is the most structured wine from the region in a highly structured vintage. It has the original cork and label, and for such an iconic wine, I felt I had to give someone the opportunity to try it.
Such a rare bottle.

From the temperature-controlled cellar of a South of France estate, owned by a distinguished collector of fine and rare mature wines. It is worth noting that the prized damp conditions, ideal for ageing, have led to some label deterioration.
