AN UNUSUAL KARAJA RUG, NORTH-WEST PERSIA

The red field with three stylised sun-burst medallions flanked by small angular panels and hooked vase in an ivory border of stylise turtle palmettes, rosettes and hooked vine, between blue floral meander and barber-pole stripes. Unusual design more associated with Kazak group. Design is well drawn. The colours are well- balanced. Apart of some loss on the kilim in one corner and touches of very light wear to the pile in one or two places. This rugg has full pile. Good usable condition. Size approx. 215cm x 150cm. Ends with kilims. Salvages rebound, well-done. Very good furnishing piece.
