A MIXED SET OF COMMEMORATIVE BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN SERVICES MADE FOR THE PERSIAN MARKET
PROPERTY FROM AN IMPORTANT EUROPEAN PRIVATE COLLECTION
Central Asia, Russia and China, late 19th and 20th century

Comprising ninety-eight individual porcelain vessels from different factories and varying greatly in size, including a tureen with tray, two serving/presentation dishes, dinner plates and bowls, side plates and smaller bowls, coffee and teacups with matching saucers, two sets of salt and pepper shakers, a pair of small ewers, two covered pots and two teapots, all decorated in the same overglaze-painted cobalt blue floral motif with gilt detail, featuring oval medallions often containing military and commemorative portraits of the Qajar ruler Nasir Al-Din Shah, three serving dishes and five plates featuring the Imperial emblem of the Qajar dynasty (shir-o-shamshir), the mixed set presenting three different factory stamps from Chinese and Russian kilns including Gardner, Moscow, mostly stamped to the bases, the largest serving dish 41cm long.
