AN ANTIQUE BAKSHAISH CARPET, NORTH-WEST PERSIA

The beige field with delicate angular floral vine around large stepped shaded light blue medallion with bold pendants containing stylised hooked arabesques, enclosing camel beige bold floral panel centrepiece. Light blue arabesque spandrels. In broad ivory border of polychrome palmettes and angular arabesques between light-rust angular floral meanader and plain stripes, approx: 254cm. x 222cm. Beautiful example for this type with very good colour combination and bold appearance. This carpet has slight localized wear to the pile down to collar knot in few places. Old repiling towards one end. Few old repairs, well done and slightly corroded black. Ends with short fringes, secured. Selvages original. In general, this carpet is in very good usable condition. Very good square size, sought after at present market. Great furnishing carpet. Very Attractive.
