The exterior decorated with four fan-shaped panels decorated with foliate sprays reserved against a powder-blue ground painted in gilt with flowering stems, the interior with an array of scholarly objects, including a cracked-ice bottle vase bearing lotus flowers, bundles of texts and scrolls and other auspicious objects, all on a large green-enamel leaf, enclosed by a border of prunus flowers borne from scrolling stems in iron-red around the inside rim
