A Chinese blue and white and copper-red 'fish' bowl, Qing dynasty, Kangxi period
清康熙 青花釉裡紅魚藻紋盌 青花《大明成化年製》楷書款

Formed with deep curved sides rising to a gently-everted rim, the exterior painted with various copper-red fish swimming amongst dense clusters of aquatic foliage, the inside rim with a band of flowerheads, foliate spays and auspicious objects, decorated to the well with a circular panel enclosing a lone carp leaping from the still waters as the sun sets overhead, the base inscribed with a six-character Chenghua mark within a double circle
