PROPERTY FROM AN IMPORTANT EUROPEAN PRIVATE COLLECTION
Iran, first half 19th century

Of typical hemispherical shape with sloping borders and reinforced rim, the exterior decorated with two gold-damascened decorative bands featuring rectangular calligraphic cartouches with alternating hunting and battle scenes, panels of interlocking vegetal sprays and foliage, the centre with a large eight-lobed pierced floral medallion enhanced with four gold-damascened steel bosses and plain cusped cartouches, the interior with three of the four original hoops for the leather padding, 37cm diam.
