A FINE HERIZ CRPET, NORTH-WEST PERSIA

The rust-red field with various polychrome angular and hooked floral motifs around large hooked and stepped medallion with pendants containing multicoloured palmette cartouches enclosing bold radiating floral centrpiece. Wide ivory floral spandrels. In an indigo border of bold palmettes, hooked leaves and angular floral vine between light blue floral and plain stripes, approx: 368cm. x 249cm. Lovely example for this type with verty well drawn design and good colour combination. This carpet has full pile, soft and lustrous wool quality. Selvages original with touches of wool loss on outer cord in few small places. Ends with short fringes, secured. In general, this carpet is in very good condition throughout. Very attractive and great furnishing piece. Popular type at present market.
