A pair of George II sterling silver candlesticks, London 1742 by William Gould (this mark reg. 15 June 1739, Grimwade: 3150)

of shaped square from with curved corners, the base formed as scrolls between stylised shells, the column with plain circular knops either side of faceted sections and a shaped knop, plain capital with applied shaped grirdle. The bases engraved with a crest of a arm in armour fesseways couped holding a cross crosslet fitchée, vert. Each fully marked underneath and with lion passant to capital.
