A late 19th century Chinese export silver coffee pot, Canton circa 1890, marked Qing Yuan
Qing dynasty. Of tapering oval cylindrical form with a tubular tapering spout opposite a loop handle modelled as bamboo fitted with ivory insulators, the top with a hinged flat disc lid surmounted by a finial modelled as bamboo with a cast and applied section of bamboo leaves, the edge of the top with engraved bamboo leaves. The body with chased panels of elongated hexagonal form of alternating decoration of a Chinese dragon amidst clouds, fruiting vine attended to by squirrels, and a figural scene of two groups of figures with buildings against bamboo and trees, all reserved with a repeated pattern of jasmine flowers. Marked underneath with artisan mark 清元 (QING YUAN), and standard mark 足銀 (ZU YIN | Pure silver).
