PROPERTY FROM AN IMPORTANT EUROPEAN PRIVATE COLLECTION
Iran, 18th - 19th century

Comprising three pottery vessels, including a dish of typical circular shape decorated with Persian imitations of Guangdong (Cantonese) famille rose overglaze enamelling, decorated with a three headed peony stem to the centre, to the rim a band of stars on triangular sections of cobalt blue ground with rosette stems on white ground in between, all set against white ground, 21.3cm diam; a shallow bowl resting on a short straight foot with underglaze-painted cobalt blue and black on white ground, the designs of a similar fashion to the previous dish albeit less sophisticated, with a central floral stem, and bands of pseudo-caligraphic inscriptions and cross-hatching pattern, the underside plain except for an inventory sticker, 22.5cm diam; and a small vase of globular shape, resting on a flat base, decorated in blue on white, with a band of leafy floral stems and palmettes to the shoulders, 5.7cm high.
