AN ANTIQUE NORTH-WEST PERSIAN KELLEH

The light camel-beige field with overall multicoloured open herati design. in charcoal-black border of angular leafy and panelled vine in a linked shaped palmettes between teraccotta and ivory hooked vine and reciprocal stripes. Outer plain stripe, approx: 9ft.1in. x 4ft.(276cm. x 122cm.) Nicely drawn design and well balanced colours. This rug has south Caucasus influence. The black is slightly corroded and some wear mainly on the field down to knot collar and below. Selvages rebound with some fraying on wool selvages. Ends with short fringes, secured. One or two small old repairs, well done. In general this rug is in fair usable conditon. Despite imperfection, still retains an elegance. Good furnishing piece.
