A fine late 19th / early 20th century Anglo - Indian silver bowl, Calcutta, Bhowanipore circa 1900 by Goopee Nath Dutt

Raj period, of rounded circular form with a fold over rim. The body with finely embossed decoration including a zebu cow with calf being milked, a seated princely figure beneath a canopy with attendants waving fans or fly whisks (chauri), further courtly scenes, a princely couple upon a dias with a kneeling Garuda before them, another depicting the baby Ganesha held by lord Shiva all upon a lion, the vahana of his mother Parvati, whom they approach. All within archways and respective foliage, all above a band of stylised acanthus leaves, the upper section with a band of architraves populated with flowering lily and lily pads, reserved with rosettes. Gilt interior. Marked underneath GOOPEE NATH DUTT BHOWANIPORE CALCUTTA.
