PROPERTY FROM AN IMPORTANT EUROPEAN PRIVATE COLLECTION

Comprising two large horizontal architectural panels, painted in polychromes, lacquered and gilt, the mirrored decoration reproducing the cusp of two ogival arches with lobed sides filled with cusped golden arabesque medallions with dense floral bouquets and foliage amidst gold vegetal scrollwork, the negative space to the sides of the arches filled with a typically Qajar triumph of interlocking vegetal trellis, rosettes, stylised blue flower sprays, and birds, the largest 82cm x 250cm; and a smaller horizontal panel with a large cusped golden medallion in the centre replicating the same pattern of the negative spaces of the previous two panels, the medallion against dark blue ground, 90.2cm x 213.5cm.
