A JOSHAGHAN CARPET, WEST PERSIA

The blue field with various multicoloured angular florla motifs around serrated double pole-medallion containing hooked palmette centrepiece. brick-red florla spandrels. In deep indigo border of hooked palmettes, arabesques and serrated leaves between X-motif, zig-zag and arrowhead stripes. Outer plain stripe, approx; 340cm. x 248cm. Very good example for this type with well balanced colours and well drawn design. Apart of slight wear to the pile in few small places, this carpet has good pile, soft wool quality and in general is in very good usable conditon. Ends original with kilim and fringes. Selvages original with slightly fraying wool on cord in few places. Very good furnishing piece. Attractive.
