A Chinese famille-noire 'birds and flowers' vase, Qing dynasty, Kangxi period
清康熙 墨地五彩花鳥紋方壺

The finely potted vase of sturdy square sections rising from a tapered elongated footrim, to an everted lip, each side rickly decorated with elaborate floral sprays issuing from rocky formations and birds perched and flying amidst the vegetation, all in famille-verte and in famille-noire ground
