***Scarce first edition of the Revelation of John and the "Catholic Epistles" in Syriac script. The Apocalypses and the letters were edited by the leading Protestant orientalist Lodewijk de Dieu (Louis de Dieu; 1590-1642) from a manuscript by the French philologist Joseph Justus Scaliger (1540-1609), one of the most important scholars of the second half of the 16th century. The Syriac text is printed together with a Hebrew transliteration and a Greek and Latin translation, synoptically.
