AN ANTIQUE SOUTH CAUCASIAN KILIM & FINE SAROUK RUG, WEST PERSIA

The kilim with open design of multicoloured wide horizontal bands containing polychrome hooked lozenges and hooked hexagons, divided by angular meanding vine stripes, approx; 6ft.8in. x 5ft.3in.(204cm. x 160cm.) Classic for this type with very good colour combination and bold appearance. This kilim has scattered wear, showing loose warps in places. Small old repairs. Ends with fringes, slight loss, secured. Cord selvages rebound, touches of fraying. In general faiI usable conditon. The Sarouk rug with soft red field and central open floral medallion, flanked by floral sprays and flowering vases between triple flowering narrow border, reciprocal and plain stripes, approx: 4ft. x 2ft.2in.(122cm. x66cm. This rug has good pile. Selvages rebound, well done. Touches of sllight fraying on cord. Ends with short kilim and fringes, added later. The pile is good, soft wool quality. In general this rug is in very good usable conditon. Elegant piece.
