This beautiful and colourful watch is part of the modern version of Corum's Coin Watches. It mostly kept elements of the orignal and vintage versions, such as the coined edges, the hands and crown, the straight lugs, and the reliable movement, but it also implemented some innovations, such as the "split coin method", dividing the coin down its middle, using its front for the dial and the back as the caseback for the watch; not to mention the beautiful black-varnished hands to match the black alligator strap. Overall the modern version is more refined in its finishing; the quality of the polishing is better and it can be appreciated in the edges of the case and bezel, resulting into a cleaner appearance. Contributing to the history of horology, the Corum Coin Watch remained since its launch in 1964 an unusual and whimsical dress watch, unlike any other and faithful to the original styling, entering important collections of American presidents and famed artists like Andy Warhol.
