The Industrial Design courses that Bernard Myers set up at the RCA in the early 1960s were taught in collaboration with Imperial College, which was just close by. Imperial itself was closely involved with the creation of the Indian Institute of Technology in New Delhi, and on the strength of Myer's work at the RCA in 1968 the Ministry of Overseas Development appointed him visiting professor to the IIT. For the following four years he spent two months annually in India, lecturing and taking out different groups of RCA students to work alongside the Indians. He also advised on teaching at the National Design Institute at Almedabad. During his trips he visited Nepal and Kashmir, where the light and colour profoundly affected the luminosity of his palette.
