AN ANTIQUE BIJAR RUNNER, NORTH-WEST PERSIA

The deep indigo field with overall design with angular floral and leafy vine together with bold palmettes, human figurs, stylised animals and birds in a rust and sea blue border of interlocking angular open floral panels between ivory floral and rust plain stripes, approx. 292cm x 116cm. Very good example of north-west Persia. Colours are well blended with well drawn design. This runner has wear down to knot collar mainly on the field. Scattered tinting, very well done. Salvages rebound, well done. One end with original kilim and fringes, the other end with slightly fraying fringes. In general this rug is in decent usable condition. Very good furnishing piece.
