AN ANTIQUE BIJAR RUG, NORTH-WEST PERSIA

The shaded rust field with horizontal angular bold arabesque bands. In rust-bown border of checkered octagons between ivory and light-blue angular floral meander stripes. Outer barber-pole and plain stripes, approx: 6ft.9n. x 4ft.(206cm. x 122cm.) Unusual design, bold appearance. Good colour combinaton. This rug has slight wear to the top pile down to knot collar showing warps in places. Selvages rebound, slightly fraying on wool cord. Ends with short fringes, secured with slight loss to the guard stripe. In general this rug is in fair usable condition. Very nicely drawn design. Woven on wool foundation. Good furnishing piece.
