A label on the reverse of the present lot states that the girl was a member of the Van Houten family. The figure is taken from a family portrait by Cornelis the Vos, c. 1626, and now in the Museum für Franken, Wurzburg. The identity of the family is given as unknown, possibly from Antwerp.
