PROPERTY FROM AN IMPORTANT EUROPEAN PRIVATE COLLECTION
Iran, late 17th - 18th century

Of compressed rounded shape, resting on a plain convex base, with a flared cylindrical neck and everted, reinforced rim, the neck engraved with a register of dense nasta'liq calligraphy against a vegetal spiral on a hatched ground featuring the names of the Prophet, Fatima and the Twelve Shi'a Imams, the body with interlocking split palmette trellis, rosette sprays, and cusped arabesque medallions, 15cm diam. and 11.5cm high.
