A FINE BIJAR RUG, NORTH-WEST PERSIA

The rust-red field with stylised polychrome open herati pattern around sea-blue central floral medallion with pendants. Deep indigo wide and linked spandrels similar. In sea-blue border of rosettes, boteh motifs and angular floral vine between rust floral meander, barber-pole and plain stripes, approx: 6ft.5in. x 4ft.1in.(196cm. x 124cm.). Good type with well drawn design and good colour combination. Apart of very slight wear to the top pile in few places, barely visible and small old repairs at one side edge, this rug has good pile and in general is in very good usable condition. Both ends with short kilim and fringes. Selvages original. Elegant and very good furnishing piece.
