A BAKSHAISH RUG, NORTH-WEST PERSIA

The rust field with hooked leaves and stylised birds around three serrated and linked lozenge medallions containing floral motifs and central human figure. In triple floral meander border between barber-pole stripes, approx: 177cm. x 103cm.. Very nicely drawn design. Very lustrous and soft wool quality. Small areas of wear on the pile, down to knot-collar in places otherwise the pile is good. Ends with original kilim. Selvages rebound, well done. Touches of fraying on wool cord in one or two tiny places. In general this rugn is in good usable condition. Attractive and elegant piece.
