An early 19th century Indian colonial silver twin handled tureen, Madras circa 1825 by George Gordon & Co (active 1821-48)
Of rounded circular form upon a spreading circular foot with ovolo rims, the pull off lid domed and cavetto lid surmounted by a detachable handle formed as twin cornucopia of plenty, atop of die struck grapes and acanthus terrace. The side with half-fluted decoration, repeated to the dome of the lid. The sides with lion masks with opposable ring handles. Marked underneath only GG with thistle.
