λ A MOTHER-OF-PEARL AND TORTOISE SHELL-INLAID OCCASIONAL TABLE WITH TUGHRA
Ottoman Turkey or Provinces, late 18th - 19th century
Of typical shape, resting on bracket feet and rising to a ten-sided top, finely inlaid with mother-of-pearl, stained wood, bone and tortoise shell, decorated with repeating triangular and chequered geometric patterns on the edges and legs, in the centre of the tabletop a marquetry sunburst with a stylised mother-of-pearl-inlaid tughra and floral stem, the legs with tall lobed arches and chevron inlays, 54cm diam. and 52cm high.
