A George III sterling silver teapot, London 1799 by John Merry
Of oval form, the curved spout opposite a wooden C scroll handle pinned to tubular sockets. The hinged domed lid surmounted by a later plastic knop finial. The body and cavetto top with bright cut engraved bands of guilloche, the side with an engraved vacant oval cartouche within a laurel surround. Fully marked underneath, the lid with lion passant only.
