A pair of George II sterling silver pepper casters, London 1743 by Samuel Wood (first reg. 3rd July 1733)
Each of baluster form upon spreading circular feet. The domed pull off lids with pierced decoration of scrolls and drill pierced heightened with engraved lattices, surmounted by urn finials. One lid a later replacement. Each full marked underneath. (2)

Samuel Wood (1703/04 – 1790) was the most prolific caster maker of the 18th century, he was apprenticed to Thomas Bamford on the 7th June 1721.
