A VERY FINE KASHAN MOHTASHEM RUG, CENTRAL PERSIA

The shadded dark blue field with stylised flowering vases and floral sprays around central light blue concentric floral medallion. In open frame border of double boteh and arabesques. Outer angular palmette and leafy vine and plain stripes. approx: 222cm x 126cm. Very good type and design seldom found in the sales. Very soft kurk wool pile. Tiny old repairs in few places, barely visible. Ends with kilim and fringes, added later. Salvages with silk cord,slightly fraying. Very fine weave 9 x 9 knots per sq. cm. In general, this rug is in very good usable condition. Attractive and elegant piece.
