A VERY FINE ANTIQUE PART SILK SENNEH RUG, WEST PERSIA approx: 6ft.8in. x 4ft.9in.(204cm. x 145cm.) The field with stylised bold hooked palmettes together with delicate angular vine and various small floral motifs around hooked and stepped rust medallion with similar motifs. In rust border of stylised bold floral palmettes between angular flowering vine stripes. Outer barber-pole stirpes. This rug has good pile, selvages original, silk cord, partly rebound. Very fine weave, approx: 8 x 7 knots per sq.cm. woven on multicoloured silk warps. Ends with very slight loss to the guard stripes, secured. In general this rug is in very good usable condition throughout. Very good colour combination. Attractive and very good type.
