CYCLING INTEREST:  An original poster for the UCI World Pro Road Cycling Championships in Luxembourg, 1952  'Championats du Mond 1952, Sur Route, Luxemburg, UCI, FSCL, 23 - 24 Auot'  designed by Benoy,  colour lithochromo, Imp. lithochromo, 11 Rue de la Croix de Pierre, Bruxelles, some tears and staining to corners, framed poster size 98.5cm x 62.5cm  Notes: The UCI Road World Championships are the annual world championships for bicycle road racing organized by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). The first world championships took place in 1921, though the only event that was contested was the Men's Road Race for Amateurs. The first professional world championship took place in July 1927 at the Nürburgring in Germany where Italian Alfredo Binda won the professional men's race and Belgian Jean Aerts won the men's amateur race. The women's road race was introduced in 1958 In 1952, there were 48 riders in the race, 38 classified finishers, 16 laps of 17.5km totalling 280km. The event was won by German cyclist Heinz Muller with an average speed of 39.45km/hr.
