AN UNUSUAL ANTIQUE SHIRVAN RUG, EAST CAUCASUS

Approx: 210cm. x 139cm. Bold design with birds and small rosettes around three stepped and indented medallions, more associated with Akstafa type. Very good colour combination. This rug has slight, wear to the top pile, barely visible. Slightly corroded charcoal-black. Selvages original, one with touches of fraying in places. Ends with short kilim and fringes, small repair to fringes at one end. Outer S-motif stripe more associated with Seychour type. In general, this rug is in very good usable condition. Attractive and sought afte type on the market. Woven on wool foundation.
