AN EXTREMELY FINE PART SILK ISFAHAN RUG, CENTRAL PERSIA approx: 8ft. x 5ft.(244cm. x 152cm.) The soft ivory field with Delicate palmette and floral vine around large stellar-flowerhead medallion with stylised pendants. Chequered spandrels with animals and floral motifs. In stellar flowerhead and arabesque shaped panel border between similar half  motif and plain stripes. Apart of small horizontal cut towards one end, this rug has full pile of fine wool quality. Selvages and ends original. Very nicely drawn design and good colour combination. Extremely fine weave, approx: 9 x 9 knots per sq. cm; woven on  silk foundation. Attractive and very elegant piece.
