A FINE ANTIQUE SAROUK RUG, WEST PERSIA

The rust-red field with angular floral and leafy vine around large deep-blue medallion with pendants containing similar design together with serrated palmette lozenge centerpiece. Ivory floral spandrels. In shaded deep-blue border of polychrome hooked palmettes, rosettes and angular floral vine between floral meander and barber-pole stripes, approx: 6ft.9in.x 4ft.6in.(206cm. x 137cm.) Very good type and well drawn design. Colours are well balanced. This rug has slight localized wear, down to knot collar in places. Selvages fraying. Ends with short fringes secured.Slight loss to the guard stripes. In general this rug is in good usable condition. Classic for this type. Still retains elegance. Good fiurnishing piece.
